What We DON'T Do

We do NOT sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties.

We do NOT use your conversations to train AI models. Your conversations are private and used only to provide you with personalized responses.

We do NOT share your children's information with anyone except the family members you explicitly invite.

We do NOT track you across other websites or apps.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely with Supabase, a trusted database provider. All data is encrypted in transit (using HTTPS) and at rest.

While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to protecting your information.

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

BrightYears is designed for parents and guardians to track and understand their children's development. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

All information about children is provided by their parent or guardian. Parents have full control over their children's data and can delete it at any time.

Children's data is only visible to family members that parents explicitly invite to the family.

Sharing Your Information

We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • With family members you invite: When you invite grandparents or other family members, they can see information about your children.
  • With service providers: We use trusted third-party services (like Supabase for database hosting and Anthropic for AI) to operate BrightYears. These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: View all information we have about you and your family through your account dashboard.
  • Edit your data: Update or correct any information at any time.
  • Delete your data: Delete your children's profiles, conversations, or your entire account. When you delete data, it's permanently removed from our servers.
  • Export your data: Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
  • Opt out of emails: Unsubscribe from weekly emails at any time (account-related emails will still be sent).

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to use BrightYears.
